Did singing come naturally to JP?
Yes and No. Growing up, JP was a drummer, played on the church worship team during his teenage years, and sang backup vocals. However, JP shares how his gift of stepping up front and singing came after his injuries. When JP was wounded, he had a tracheotomy, which then led to severe damage to his vocal cords. He had to go through speech therapy to learn how to speak again. Doctors said he would never be able to sing again…but God. God gave him the gift to sing again. JP’s first live gig was at President Obama’s Inauguration. Years later, he was then asked to sing at President Trump’s Inauguration. He sang with famous artists such as Neal McCoy, Lee Greenwood, Gavin Degraw, and more throughout his singing career. In 2019, JP sang his new single “Smile On” at Lakewood Church in front of thousands of people. He has performed the National Anthem for non-profit events, the San Antonio and Houston Rodeo, as well as the NBA Spurs team and the MLB Houston Astros. In August 2024, JP performed a cover song at the Grand Ole Opry. JP is currently working on an album. Please stay tuned for new music.
